Bandel St. John’s School was established in 1870 by the then Prior of Bandel Church, Rev. AC. Rodriguez, and is owned and administered by the Salesians of Don Bosco.
It is a Christian Minority Educational Institution and as such, it is primarily meant for the Christian students. However, if seats are available, other children, irrespective of caste and creed, may also be admitted.
It is a Government aided, Bengali Medium School.
The Primary Section (Class I-IV) is co-educational. It is outside the District Primary Schools’ Council and is directly under the District Inspector of Schools (Primary Education), Hooghly, and the Directorate of School Education (Primary Branch), Bikash Bhavan, Kolkata-91.
The High School (Class V-X) is under the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, Kolkata and the Directorate of School Education (Secondary Branch), Bikash Bhavan, Kolkata-91.
The Higher Secondary Section (Class XI-XII) is under the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education Vidyasagar Bhavan, Kolkata-91.
